INVESTING IN THE CANARIES.

The Canary Islands have a unique natural environment,  which for decades has consolidated the region as a FIRST RATE TOURIST DESTINATION.

Perhaps the least known image of the Islands is their role as a business centre. They possess a number of attractions for the location of companies with prospects for the future. As a region with one of the most dynamic economic  positions in Spain, the Islands have the necessary means to achieve a strong position as a point of reference for investors planning to extend their business activities.   The Canary Islands have become a target region for investors as a logistics operations centre for establishing trade networks with Africa and America.    In line with this the Canary Islands Regional Government and the Chambers of Commerce have set up a number of initiatives designed to encourage companies established in the Islands to expand at an International level, towards Africa.  Right now the African economy is undergoing the greatest period of expansion since the 1970's.

The Islands are home to the best tax regime in Europe, the Canary Islands Special Zone ( ZEC ), this tax instrument, authorised by the European Commission in 2000, provides a number of exemptions and tax allowances.  A main feature is the guarantee of being able to pay Corporate Income Tax at a fixed rate of only 4% as opposed to the European Union average of 25%.  There is the added incentive of the ratification by Brussels of the continuation of the ZEC until 2009.

As a tourism region, the Canary Islands have been noted for decades for their modern network of transport, infrastructure and facilities.  The Islands have 8 airports, six of which are International, and an extensive network of 10 trading ports.

QUALITY OF LIFE

Whilst Spain is within the European Union, the Canary Islands is not a member of the E.U. but mirrors much of the E.U. laws. Unlike E.U. countries, the Canary Islands is a duty free area. The Canary Islands provides high levels of social and economic wellbeing, in addition to a stable political context, the Islands are known for high levels of public safety.  There is the added attraction of residing in a region with ideal weather conditions where the average annual temperature is around 23 -24 degrees C , and there is more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year !!!
